www.DisabledGo.info gives detailed and searchable information on the accessibility of a wide variety of goods and services in Cardiff (including the Visitor Centre, of course!), allowing a person to decide for themselves whether something is accessible to them. Funded nationally by Marks and Spencer and locally by Cardiff City Council, DisabledGo are continuing to expand the number of locations they feature on the site toward their aim of full UK coverage. Disabled Go empowers people to enjoy their local community and to visit other towns and cities. In Britain today there are 8.7 million disabled people - one seventh of the population -spending £45/50 billion annually. With friends, family and carers adding significantly to this spending, this is one section of society that cannot be ignored. Also, with the provisions of The Disability Discrimination Act coming into force shortly and it being the European Year of Disabled People, inclusive access is a hot issue.
On the/Community Homepage/ for Cardiff, there is a one-stop-shop of information for users: both local people and those travelling from farther a-field.
